Vietnam Vet & Cancer Survivor Benny “How much love do you have is how much love you can carry.”

” Here is the big deal..I had cancer, right? When i found out, I spent the last 10years building these peace signs in the park because I thought I was going to die. I built peace signs and natural streams rock by rock.”  We take a walk around the 500 acre Forest park and Benny shares his story of Vietnam Vet & Cancer Survivor turned Garbologist & Environmentalist. After 20 years working with the NYC Sanitation Dept, Benny leveraged his passion and relationship with his community and is giving back via selling used home furnishings from his garage and creating peace signs out of weeds in Forest Park voluntarily.

This is part I. Here is Part II . 3 months after I filmed Benny’s story, Benny appeared in the NY Times Aug 18, 2010 http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/18/sifting-through-new-yorks-garbage-and-finding-value/
